Helping children to reach their full communicative potential
Helping children to reach their full communicative potential
My name is Michelle Gormley and I am a Senior Speech and Language Therapist. I studied at University of Ulster, Jordanstown and graduated with a Bsc Honours Degree in June 2009. I am registered with HPCP (Health and Care Professions Council, UK) and CORU (Ireland's multi-profession health regulator) who both promote high standards of professional conduct.
Over the past 14 years I have gained extensive experience in working with children of all ages who present with communication difficulties. I am highly passionate about my work and believe that early intervention is crucial. I aim to provide timely management of children with communication difficulties and support parents on their child's Speech and Language Therapy journey.
Are you concerned that your toddler is not yet talking? Or maybe not talking as much as you would like? Maybe your child is talking but their speech isn't entirely clear? Or maybe you have concerns about your child's understanding of instructions or ability to put sentences together?
I can help! I offer a variety of assessment and therapy options which can be tailored to meet the needs of your child and family circumstances.
Being a mum of two, I understand that having concerns about any aspect of your child's development can be a worrying time. So if you have any questions, need reassurance or just want to chat to a professional about your child's communication, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you're not sure which of my services are suitable for your child, I'm happy to discuss and together we can decide on the best next step for your child.
I believe all children deserve to reach their maximum communicative potential. In my 12 years of working, one question I am continually asked is "What can I do to help my child?" In my experience, parents want to be actively involved in developing their child's communication skills.
I aim to empower parents to play an active role in maximising their child's speech and language skills. Research strongly indicates that parents being involved at the early stage of language development is crucial. Furthermore, evidence suggests that children learn best in their natural environments and are more motivated to communicate with the most important people in their lives.
